Great comment on the incremental merge. I thought to implement it but it can not do the point to time recovery. Thanks!

Hi,
Your post is good, but I am looking for "If a Flash Recovery Area is configured, then the database uses an internal algorithm to delete the files from the Flash Recovery Area " - this algorithm, and is there way to manipulate "internal quota rules"

Nice blog!

Not only is it possible, I have already implemented HRMS 9.0 for our startup on a 'small' ami using the basic windows instance Windows2003/SQLServer 2005.

Unfortunately we have not recieved much interest in the service due to unfamiliarity of most IT departments with the whole cloud computing concept and the fact that the instance run "somewhere out there" ... Hopefully this situation will turn-around soon as the "cloud brokers" gain more corporate IT leadership mindshare.

I don't see any reason why it can't be done for the Centos instances or with the 10g AMI's provided by Oracle.

However, our install was a full proof of concept install of all components of the PIA from scratch (logical n tier -- one AMI)

Oracle had come out with the PS VM templates but they seem to have been withdrawn. We see increasing customer interest in the future in the "fire and forget" one off vanilla instances which they can use to do quick one off things and then move on based on quick testing.

Stan, thanks for your posts; unfortunately there were many issues with PT8.47.08 related to PSAPPSRV memory corruption which caused crashes and poor performance. We ave since upgraded to PT8.49.20 which seems more stable. I am working towards TUXEDO throughput testing as we are still running HP-UX out of the box. Certain pages in the application are taking a long time to build in the PSAPPSRV process, not due to SQL, but more related to volume. I am hoping the kernel changes will address this. I do see a lot of Waits on MESG and Waits on STRMS using glance.
